Algonquin Battle of the Bands winner Copper Harbor

Copper Harbor barely made the deadline to drop off their materials to enter the Algonquin Battle of the Bands.
“We got lost trying to find the place,” said Dillon Anderson, vocalist and guitarist. But luckily, they managed to get their materials in, and then began planning their set.
Although Copper Harbor has been playing electrically for about a year now, they decided to go acoustic for the Algonquin battle.
“We kind of wanted to play our new songs, but we decided to do acoustic, just to see how far we could take it,” guitarist MIke Colon said. “We play acoustically five to six hours a day. It’s just what we do.”
Copper Harbor’s hard work paid off when they won the local competition, despite a minor setback.
“During the set, I dropped my pick, but we just kept going,” Anderson joked.
The two share a distinct sense of humor, and often laugh when asked how they met—comparing the tailoring of their skinny jeans.
“And we were best friends ever since,” Colon said.
The victory comes at a good time for then band, since they just started recording again. Colon even traded in his guitar, signed by Kid Rock, in order to gain a more professional-sounding release. “We’re a bit softer, alternative pop punk with a splash of Beyonce,” Colon said of the band’s current sound.
Their victory also helped them book more shows, which can be found on MySpace.
